9/28 Recycled Jewelry Making + Flea Market Experience
NYC CRAFT + FLEA MARKET SERIES
Date/Time: Saturday, September 28, from 10am-1:00pm ET
Location: We’ll start the class at Chelsea Flea Market (located at 29 W 25th St, New York, NY 10010). Once we‘ve found our beads of choice, we’ll head to 151 W 30th St, New York, NY.
Explore the NYC flea market scene and discover the art of sustainable jewelry creation in "Recycled Jewelry Making." This hands-on class will guide you through designing and crafting your own custom jewelry using a selection of beads and wires. You'll learn essential techniques, including how to wrap wire to form various shapes and styles using tools such as wire cutters and pliers. With step-by-step instruction, you'll gain the skills to create unique, custom jewelry that reflect your individual taste. Plus, we’re now adding a fun element to our classic ‘Intro to Jewelry Making” class which will involve searching for antique/unique beads at Chelsea Flea Market during the first part of the class. Whether you're looking to explore a new hobby or want to start your own sustainable jewelry business, this class offers a creative and enjoyable introduction to the craft.
No previous experience required – beginners are warmly welcomed! Let's unleash your inner jewelry artist.
Please Note:
What to expect: By the end of this class, you will have the knowledge and materials necessary to create your finished project (even if you have to finish your project at home - beauty takes time). You can make whatever earring, necklace, or bracelet designs you desire during this workshop - we recommend coming prepared with inspiration. You are also welcome to follow along with our step-by-step instruction. We'll visit Chelsea Flea Market to gather our beads, and then we’ll head over to 151 W 30th St, New York, NY to craft our jewelry. Please feel free to bring any snacks or hydrating beverages, as food and drinks will not be provided. Please note, we will be standing and walking for the first portion of the class at the flea market; then we will walk to our workshop located at 151 W 30th St, New York, NY, which is about a ~10-minute walk from the flea market. Please let us know if you have any accessibility considerations, and we can work to provide accommodations. If you have any other questions prior to the class, please email crafthausofficial@gmail.com.
Materials Include: basic beads, wire, earring hooks, necklace/bracelet chain, and a variety of tools. The cost of these materials is reflected in the total cost of the class.
